First Cherries by Tamara Jare
This radiant still life celebrates the first cherries of the season, their glossy red skins glowing against a soft white plate and a backdrop of vibrant color. Painted with fluid, energetic brushstrokes, the cherries are joined by a lush bouquet of pink peonies and red roses in a simple vase, their petals catching light in delicate pinks, creams, and subtle greens. The composition is framed by warm yellows, sky-blues, and touches of coral and orange, evoking the fresh excitement of early summer arrival in the studio. Executed in lighter, transparent layers of oil, the work emphasizes spontaneity, luminosity, and the simple pleasure of seasonal abundance. As a Slovenian artist based in Ljubljana, I draw from Central European traditions of observing nature’s small arrivals with emotional clarity—transforming these early cherries and blossoms into a quiet meditation on renewal, anticipation, and the joy of fleeting beauty.
